In this episode we talk with Logan Aldridge and Alec Zirkenbach, adaptive athletes and founders of the Adaptive Training Academy (ATA). We discuss the importance of fitness for people with disabilities and how the ATA’s training methodology helps adaptive athletes better prepare themselves for life and sport. We talk about barriers to entry, and other challenges adaptive athletes face in the fitness community and what can be done to build confidence and further independence in this population. We also discuss the evolution of ATA’s course from live seminar to online certification and how healthcare professionals can access the content to further their knowledge. Alec also shares his experience as Mat Fraser’s judge for the 2020 CrossFit Games.
